The young people from CVYP’s Friday night group have recently being showing us how to stay safe in case of emergencies in the last few weeks as they have undergone a three weeks with the Tyne and Wear Fire Service. Over the last few weeks our young people have being getting kitted out in all the protective clothing as they have learned about how to stay safe in fire, the dangers fire can pose and how to safely tackle them.

Working together as a team our young people worked with the young volunteer fire cadets to learn basic drills where they were put through their paces. The young people spent time playing fun games as well as learning about how all the equipment worked and got to have a go themselves. They even had a ride in the fire engine.

To show their achievement and hard work the young people were invited afternoon award ceremony where they got to show their friends and family what they had learnt and educated them on the dangers of chip pans. They were then all awarded a certificate and medal for their achievement and have all thoroughly enjoyed their experience.

We are extremely proud of each of our young people who took part and would like to thank the Tyne and Wear Fire Service for providing them with this fantastic opportunity, it was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
