I started volunteering at the youth project when I was 12 years old and after 5 years experience I have developed immensely as a person. I have gained numerous skills, self confidence and a crucial understanding of young people. This has enabled me to peer support lots of children and young people with a range of abilities.

I have gained my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and after being a moved from a volunteer to the role of a youth worker trainee I am working towards my Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

I started volunteering at CVYP when I was 14, and over the past year I have gained a lot of new personal qualities and tried a lot of different things. I have gained many skills, met a lot of new people and gained a lot of confidence. It has given me the opportunity to try a range of different activities like going on residential trips to Scotland and taking part in outdoor activities. I am currently working towards achieving my bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. I volunteer with young people with special needs and also with young carers. I am looking forward to continuing with my Duke of Edinburgh in the future and working towards my gold award.
