Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project is a fantastic place to work and to be part of. I started as a volunteer and now have progressed as a youth worker undertaking many training opportunities that compliments my degree.

Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project has allowed me to be part of many new, fun and exciting activities. It’s a busy project, just the way I like it.

During my time at CVYP, I have completed my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh, John Muir Award and was lead champion on the Big Music Project. After joining as a junior in 2009, I have volunteered with all the groups and I have just became a young apprentice. My favourite activities while being at CVYP have been the PGL France Trip, Gorge Walking, Go Ape and Alton Towers. As well as this I have also assisted with the Duke of Edinburgh.

I am very excited to get involved with the different groups as I continue my journey at CVYP and continue to develop and learn new skills.

At CVYP I have gained loads of awards such as Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and just about completed my Silver.

With my group I completed all four stages of the Key Fund and Discovery and Explore levels of the John Muir Award. As a result I now help others with gaining the skills to help them achieve these awards. Through completing these awards myself I have gained lots of useful skills such as leadership and have been able to take part in many exciting experiences. I like taking part in everything and especially like taking part in the outdoor and water activities. I have volunteered for several years and am now on a pre-apprenticeship at CVYP.

I have grown in confidence since completing my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award as I have worked to achieve my goals with the youth club. I have also developed skills by volunteering with other groups as well as learnt problem solving to help myself and others overcome problems. This is something which will help me as I work towards completing my Silver and the Gold Duke of Edinburgh.

Since joining CVYP seven years ago as a junior, I have been able to achieve my Bronze D of E and have completed the four stages of Key Fund and my John Muir Discovery Award. The activities I enjoy are music and archery which I have won an award for winning a competition in. I have volunteered for several fayres and have taken part in sponsored walk with a group of special needs.

Through CVYP I have been able to achieve my Bronze D of E and as a result have grown in confidence within my volunteer roles and have felt welcomed by everyone. I have went on many trips such as part of the music gang to London and Manchester, I have even been to France. I have had amazing experiences so far and wish to do so much more wonderful things. I have volunteered in different groups an have been able to help others in similar situations as me. The youth project is a place I go to have time to myself and also help others enjoy there time there. It has opened so many different doors for me and gave me lots of great opportunities and for that I am thankful of and all the amazing people at the project.

I’ve been coming to the project for over seven years and this group has allowed me to gain lots of confidence within myself and around other people. I have successfully completed m Bronze Duke of Edinburgh and my John Muir Award. I really enjoy attending CVYP because I have a good relationship with staff and with the other young people that attend CVYP. I have previously volunteered with the Junior Special Needs and at various fayres and events that CVYP have hosted. Currently I am working towards my Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award and hope to achieve this by the end of the year.

Through joining CVYP I have completed both my Bronze and Silver D of E’s. These were both challenging, but I worked through to achieve them both. It was great to achieve my certificates at the Sage. I feel I am supportive with other young people and help them when they ask me to. I have learnt to accept everyone’s disabilities and be helpful when I can. I am also supportive within the sessions to help set up and do jobs when asked by youth workers. I have also completed my John Muir Award, where I learnt about conservation and the environment as well as completing a residential at Kielder to help me achieve this. In sessions I like playing pool, being outside playing football and taking part in archery. Also I have completed the NCS programme which I learnt about a lot in and have built on friendships.

I started off doing my John Muir Award and completed it and have recently achieved my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh. I am currently working towards my silver Duke of Edinburgh Award and hope to achieve this by the end of the year. I have learnt to take on responsibilities, support my peers and other young people. I also have gained communication skills and independence. I have learnt about a wider range of disabilities and how to support each individual. I enjoy socialising with other members in the groups and I get a buzz doing outdoor activities.

I completed the John Muir Award finding out interesting stuff about nature and having fun on the residential. I have achieved my Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh where I learnt how to cook, map read and set up camp. I’ve learnt a lot about outdoor activities and enjoy taking part as I have learnt to make friends and I am now more sociable now outside the youth project because of this. I am also a good pool player and like teaching others how to play. I enjoy bike riding, playing pool, playing football and expeditions even though they are trying it feels great once I have completed them. I enjoy youth club and look forward to completing my Gold Duke of Edinburgh which I am working towards.

I have volunteered at the CVYP community events where I take on roles and responsibilities to help out. I enjoy helping out and trying new things. I participate in activities, enjoy working as a team and good communication and I understand other peoples disabilities. I can lead an activity which I sometimes bring in to youth club, helping other people enjoy the experience.

I enjoy doing my Duke of Edinburgh and have completed my Bronze with an aim to completer my Silver by the end of the year. I have just completed my Discover Arts Award as well. My favourite activity at CVYP is Archery and I enjoy going to new places and seeing different environments where I have never been before.
