Senior Special Needs

The senior special needs has been running over 20 years and welcomes young people between the ages of 11 and 18 years old, with mild to moderate disabilities and/or additional needs.

Throughout the session the young people enjoy taking part in activities of their choice as well as meeting up with one another to socialise. This allows group members to grow in confidence and have the opportunity to experience new things. Some of the activities which they take part in include:

  • Pool

  • Music

  • Group Games

  • Cooking

  • Sport

  • Arts & Crafts

As well as these activities our young people embrace the chance to take part in activities outside the centre in our holiday schemes. They include:

  • Trips to the museum

  • Trips to the cinema

  • Trips to the beach and country parks

  • Taking part in community events

The senior special needs also take part in the award schemes offered at CVYP with many of our members achieving their Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards and their John Muir Awards. We are also very proud of our group of girls the ‘Butterflies’ who were the first special needs group to achieve Key Stage Four of the Key Fund.
